A very simple way to assist people who are beginning to lose the power of their legs and subsequently have difficulty standing up from a sitting position is to raise the height of the chair. An example from OT Stores is their Langham grip-on raiser, which is ideal for high-back chairs and dining chairs.
The Langham chair raiser is adjustable for height and are made from plastic so they will not damage the finish on legs of the chair and can be removed when no longer needed. The Langham raisers are supplied in a set of four and can be offered in three different sizes to accommodate thickness of chair leg. The Langham chair raiser can be used to raise the height of beds as well, which has been found to help both getting in and out of a bed.
